Although a company by the same name was founded by Luigi Borrelli in 1957, this company certainly remembers Luigi's mother, Anna, who worked as a seamstress in the very early 1900s in the suburbs of Naples. She then decided to open a small workshop for a narrow circle of clients. Even Victor Immanuel III, the last king of Italy, allegedly was in this circle.

Luigi’s son, Fabio was able to popularize not so much the family brand but the Neapolitan shirt itself, which became synonymous with Luigi Borrelli for many around the world. Since 1997, the company has grown out of shirt making and began producing a full set of men's wardrobe items. However, it is the shirt that is the statement piece of Luigi Borrelli to this day and has its unmistakable recognizable features. A lot of details are made by hand: the collar, the sleeve fastenings, the armhole, the shoulder, the gusset, the edging, the buttonhole and the buttons sewn in the traditional Neapolitan technique of “chicken feet ''. Today, the Luigi Borrelli collection includes a full range of models required by a man. In addition to shirts, it includes ties, trousers and jeans, knitwear, suits and various outerwear. Many of these models are available in the Sartale store.
