Joseph Tricker founded his company in 1829 in the very center of an English shoe manufacturing district, the town of Northampton, where it is located to this day. The brand quickly gained a reputation as a manufacturer with exceptional quality. His fame was consolidated when Walter James Barltrop, Joseph's adopted son, came up with the first model of country boots in 1840. This model has not only become iconic for the country style - which is an important part of British fashion culture - but also brought Tricker's worldwide fame. These shoes were chosen by landowners to visit their lands. Their comfort, durability and practicality was also appreciated by the farm managers. Bourton brogue and Stow boot models have survived a number of eras and rulers, but to this day they remain the most recognizable and iconic for Tricker's. They are manufactured according to the same Goodyear standards and technology as almost 200 years ago. It was largely thanks to these boots that Tricker's received the Prince of Wales's royal warrant in 1989, and in 2019 Prince Charles visited the factory on the day of its 190th anniversary.

Also iconic for Tricker's were models of Elton loafers with tassels and Adam penny loafers. These shoes and many other models are sold in the Sartale online store.
