This shirt brand, founded in 1925, is run by the third generation of the Finamore family. Its story is in many ways typical for Naples: seamstress Carolina sewed beautiful shirts for private clients in her tiny atelier, but she could not have even dreamt that one day her name would become famous all over the world. The business was taken up by her son Alberto and his wife, and today the family business is being developed by his four children. From a small atelier Finamore has grown into one of the most advanced factories in a niche where tradition is still respected. “We do not employ workers, but seamstresses,” says the head of the company, Simone Finamore. Although they have modern machines, only parts of the operations are carried out on them, the rest are carried out in the old-fashioned way by hand. The Finamore brand has several collections of shirts. The “Esclusiva” models are completely hand-sewn from the finest materials (with 12 types of stitches). The Napoli shirts interpret the tradition of Neapolitan tailoring, and the construction adds ease of movement. The Milano model is a version of a stricter fitted shirt, but with the characteristic Neapolitan gathering at the shoulder. The casual, informal Tokyo shirts feature soft cuffs and collars, and include designs in denim, flannel and linen. The Finamore brand collaborates with the Neapolitan opera house San Carlo. Finamore shirts are worn for performances by the orchestra and the theater conductor.
